Stephen Ministry

Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.  Galations 6:2

Prince of Peace is blessed to have a strong Stephen Ministry program that has been a vital service here since 1982.  Our congregation has over 20 trained lay people who have completed more than 50 hours of course work dedicated to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to others. Stephen Ministers are equipped and empowered lay caregivers who can provide high quality care to those who are hurting both in Prince of Peace and the community. They continue to meet monthly for ongoing education as well as supervision of their services.

Stephen Ministry was founded in 1975 and has over 13,000 congregations now enrolled. An unbelievable 600,000 laypeople have been trained to be a Stephen Minister with more than 1.5 million people receiving their dedicated service. These faithful Christians come from more than 170 denominations from over 30 countries.

Stephen Ministers have worked hard to reach out to those with a variety of needs. They minister to individuals over 18 who suffer from an amalgam of issues: job loss, medical issues, monetary problems, change in relationships, and more. It doesn’t matter if the care receiver is college bound or elderly, separated or divorced, Christian or atheist. Their ministry to others will always be:

  • Confidential
  • Free
  • Christ centered
  • Weekly
  • Compassionate
  • One-to-one
  • Emotional and spiritual help
